The MGM Brakes Electronic Stroke Alert eSTROKE system converts air brake actuator shaft travel into an electronic signal. This signal is monitored and output transmitted to a Chassis Communications Module (CCM), which the company said provides the driver with a safe and convenient means to check brake stroke status.
MGM Brakes has also released eLINK, an in-cab communication device providing real-time communication between trailer and tractor indicating the trailer brake status. eLINK plugs into the cigarette lighter or auxiliary power supply of the tractor and receives a signal sent from the eSTROKE trailer module. The eLINK uses colored LED lights to instantly verify the function of trailer brakes by monitoring park brake release, out-of-adjustment, dragging and non-functioning brakes. It can perform en route, pre-trip, at anytime, anywhere and in any weather, the maker said.
The eSTROKE system is easily installed by using the existing 7-wire electrical system, and is complementary to other on-board electronic systems commonly found on heavy-duty air-braked vehicles, such as ABS (anti-lock braking systems). Electronic sensors are pre-installed and pre-calibrated at the factory.
The company said the new MGM Brakes eLINK combined with eSTROKE offers ease of use, accuracy and reliability in the monitoring of a vehicle’s brake stroke status.
