Armstrong Tire, an American tire brand founded in 1912, sent a filmmaker to shoot a short documentary film about life on the road for truck drivers. According to the company, the film highlights the joys and challenges of life on the road and brings attention to the critical contribution that trucking makes to our nation. The film features Nick Mihailovich, a truck driver from Chicago who drives for TAK Trucking, and follows his journey on a route, shedding light on the highs and lows of the profession while challenging the misconceptions about truck drivers.
“People know about truckers what they see on movies and the TV,” says Mihailovich. “You get the stereotypical truck driver in your mind: a big guy behind the steering wheel with his cap. Truck drivers are people with big hearts. They go out and work, day and night, for weeks at a time, or months at a time, just so their family can have a better life. This is something that people don’t really see or think about. To cars, trucks are just in their way. They don’t think about the truck drivers delivering goods to them. We move this country.”
