Babcox Media, publisher of Fleet Equipment, is pleased to announce that Jason Morgan, managing editor of Fleet Equipment, has been promoted to editor, effective Oct. 1, 2014. In this new capacity, Morgan will be responsible for the overall editorial direction of the Fleet Equipment brand.
Morgan has been managing editor of Fleet Equipment since July 2013.
Morgan was instrumental in the digital re-launch of Fleet Equipment, redesigning both the website and email newsletter to continue the focus on quality, timely content and providing an engaging experience for the reader, according to Fleet Equipment Publisher Dean Martin. During Morgan’s time with the publication, he has spearheaded the magazine’s editorial focus on the latest equipment advances and technology, while providing insight into industry trends, Martin added.
“Jason Morgan is an incredibly talented and able editor who already has proven himself in the time he’s been with Fleet Equipment and I’m pleased that he’s accepted the position of editor,” said Martin. “His experience covering our business and ability to connect with our readers will surely continue to benefit our industry.”
Morgan is a seasoned business-to-business editor, having covered everything from trucks and construction equipment to craft brewing and the real estate appraisal industry. Before joining Fleet Equipment, Morgan was editor of Valuation Review, an online and print publication that serves the residential appraisal industry, and managing editor of Utility Contractor, a custom publication for the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA).
In conjunction with this announcement, Babcox Media also is pleased to announce that effective Jan. 1, Carol Birkland will be transitioning to the new position of editor-at-large. Birkland has been in the trucking industry for more than 28 years, 26 of which have been on the editorial staff of Fleet Equipment. She has extensive knowledge of the trucking industry, and has provided Fleet Equipment readers with the information they need to specify, purchase and maintain trucks. In addition, she has covered and reported on trucking events in the global marketplace. She will continue to provide expert advice and commentary to the readers of Fleet Equipment.
“Having Carol Birkland continue to contribute to our industry is exciting, and her vast experience and knowledge of the trucking industry is unparalleled,” Martin said. “I want to congratulate her on all of her hard work and I know the industry will continue to benefit from her contributions.”
