Kenworth’s Renton assembly plant receives King County environmental honor

The Kenworth Truck Company assembly plant in Renton, Wash., has received a Gold Award presented by the King County (Wash.) Industrial Waste Program. Part of King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division, the Industrial Waste Program annually honors local facilities whose business practices contribute to protecting regional water quality. Kenworth—Renton received the award for wastewater compliance covering discharge, permit, ordinance, reporting, self-monitoring, and King County monitoring.

“Kenworth’s Renton plant employees maintain a strong focus on our environmental initiatives in their daily efforts to produce quality Kenworth trucks for our customers. As a result, the plant’s comprehensive environmental stewardship program consistently produces excellent results,” said Daryl Simon, Kenworth’s assistant general manager for operations. “The 2015 Gold Award from the King County Industrial Waste Program recognizes continuous focus in the environmental arena.”

In addition, the Kenworth—Renton plant currently holds a Best Workplace for Recycling and Waste Reduction Award presented in 2015 by King County’s Solid Waste Division for Kenworth’s outstanding efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle.
