At a recent event at Volvo’s Construction Equipment Demonstration Center in Shippensburg, Pa., Volvo showcased its line of work trucks, as well as the company’s proprietary engines and transmissions. The event took place at Volvo’s Construction Equipment Demonstration Center, where potential customers can test out the trucks for themselves, and see a demonstration of the trucks’ capabilities. These VHD 200 dump trucks come with Volvo’s D13 engines, which is available in 455- and 500-HP ratings, and the 14-speed I-Shift with crawler gears.
Volvo’s line of engines includes the D11, D13, and D16, as well as the D13 with turbo compounding, which according to the company has the potential for 6.5% fuel efficiency gains over the 2014 D13 engine.

Engine improvements for 2016 include a new common-rail fuel system and an updated wave piston design.
