Sherwin-Williams Automotive introduces new epoxy primer

Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes introduced a new direct to metal (DTM) epoxy primer (E2A400) designed for fleet and manufacturing. This primer is U.S. compliant at 2.1-lbs./gal. VOC, boasts ready to spray solids of 48% and applies similarly to a sealer, the company said. E2A400 is easily topcoatable, provides great overall performance and can be used with a wide range of topcoats, Sherwin-Williams said. E2A400 has fast dry times and good sandability, which makes it ideal for manufacturers, fleets and automotive refinishers.

Along with wet-on-wet capabilities with various compatible topcoat systems, E2A400 DTM Primer also has the option to be accelerated, making it an ideal prep coat for many other OE and refinish applications seeking improved process times; it is also recommended as an undercoat for aluminum, which makes it ideal in the sign fabricating marketplace, the company said.

E2A400 epoxy primer can be ordered through any of the almost 200 Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes company-owned branches that provide extensive sales support and controlled distribution throughout North America.
