TomTom announced the North American launch of the TomTom Bridge Hub, a display-agnostic device, allowing customers and partners in various industries—such as transportation, emergency, logistics and utilities—to connect with regular smartphones and tablets (BYOD), rugged professional devices or HDMI displays to create enhanced mobility solutions. It is an extension of TomTom Bridge, a terminal built for professional drivers that links business applications with TomTom maps, traffic and navigation software.
The built-in 4G/LTE connectivity and CAN Bus interface can connect with the driver and the back office and also to the vehicle itself in real time. This helps ensure even greater efficiency and lower total cost of ownership, according to TomTom, which added that it also provides a solution for developers to create innovative mobility applications while keeping strong platform control. TomTom Bridge Hub gives users flexibility with three different hardware models.
TomTom also announced that TomTom Bridge Hub will be compliant with ELD software applications, allowing businesses to meet the upcoming ELD mandate.
“TomTom Bridge Hub is already gaining traction in a wide range of industries from SMEs to large OEMs, where many customers and partners have already selected this product for their next generation implementation,” said Sebastien Ruffino, business unit manager for the TomTom Bridge.
