Allison TC10 offers increased fuel economy

Real world test fleet users found an average 5% fuel economy improvement with the new Allison TC10 tractor transmission over their current manual or automated manual transmissions, according to the company. The TC10 shifts at just the right points on the power curve, with virtually no loss of acceleration, right into cruise gear. And because it’s an Allison Automatic, the TC10 doesn’t require regular clutch maintenance or replacement, like manuals and automated manuals. This results in significant savings in service and downtime over the life cycle of the truck clutch maintenance or replacement, like manuals and automated manuals.

The TC10 is equipped with FuelSense, a unique package of software and electronic controls that target the critical components of your tractor’s duty cycle for maximum fuel savings.

According to ACT Research, February net trailer orders, at 20,500 units were nearly 21% lower year-over-year, but 6,600 units above January’s intake. Weak freight rates continue to reduce carriers’ willingness to invest in equipment, ACT said.

“Seasonally adjusted, February’s orders fell to 20,100 units compared to a 12,600 seasonally adjusted rate in January,” said Jennifer McNealy, director of commercial vehicle market research and publications at ACT Research. “On that basis, orders increased 59% month-over-month. Dry van orders contracted 18% y/y, with reefers and flats both down 31% compared to February 2023.”
