BP Lubricants USA Inc. announced its Castrol Tection HD Engine Oil meets the requirements of the Caterpillar Engine Crankcase Fluid – 2 (ECF – 2) specification, an addition to the list of specifications the engine oil has already met.

Castrol Tection HD is engineered to provide superior soot management, deposit control and wear protection necessary to meet the ECF-2 specification, which applies to Caterpillar 3500 Series and smaller commercial and machine diesel engines along with all pre-2007 Caterpillar on-highway diesel engines.

Castrol Tection HD and other oils meeting the Cat ECF-2 specification are not applicable to Caterpillar engines equipped with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF). Caterpillar strongly recommends that Caterpillar engines equipped with DPFs use oil that meets the Cat ECF-3 specification, such as Castrol Tection Extra.
