Chevron Delo awarded Daimler Trucks North America engine factory fill business

Chevron Products Co. maker of the Delo brand of engine oils, lubricants and coolants, announced Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will begin factory filling with Chevron Delo 400 ZFA SAE 10W-30 (FA-4) starting Jan. 1.

Beginning Jan. 1, Delo 400 ZFA SAE 10W-30 will be factory filled into all Detroit DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines. Chevron Delo engine oils are available upon request via DTNA’s 700+ dealers and its Elite Support dealership network.

“Chevron puts great value on OEM relationships, as they are critical for developing engine oil products which help OEMs lower total cost of ownership for fleet managers,” said James Booth, North America commercial sector manager at Chevron. “We are especially excited about the effect this will have on our factory fill business. As of January 2019, Chevron Delo will supply two thirds of the North American heavy-duty factory fill engine oil market.”

According to the latest numbers from ACT Research, preliminary North America Class 8 net orders were 27,700 units, up 600 units from January and 16% from a year ago. With the fourth-largest seasonal factor of the year at 8%, seasonal adjustment reduces February’s Class 8 intake to 25,600 units, up 5% from January.

“Weak freight and carrier profitability fundamentals, and large carriers guiding to lower capex in 2024, would imply pressure in U.S. tractor, the North American Class 8 market’s largest segment,” said Kenny Vieth, ACT’s president and senior analyst. “While we do not yet have the underlying detail for February order volumes, Class 8 demand continuing at high levels again this month suggests that U.S. buyers continue as strong market participants.”
