Chevron oils meet Cat specs

Chevron Products Co. announced its API CJ-4 and API CI-4 PLUS heavy-duty diesel engine oils meet the new Caterpillar ECF-2 specification. As of March 1, 2007, Caterpillar recommends the use of ECF-2 for pre-2007 on-road and any off-road Caterpillar engines no bigger than the C3500.

The following Chevron heavy-duty diesel engine oils meet the new Caterpillar ECF-2 specification. Chevron API CJ-4 products meeting Caterpillar ECF-2 and ECF-3 are Delo 400 LE Multigrade; and Texaco Ursa Premium TDX EC.

Chevron API CI-4 PLUS oils meeting Caterpillar ECF-2 are Chevron Delo 400 Multigrade; Chevron RPM SAE; and Texaco Ursa Super Plus.

Chevron’s CJ-4 oils already met the Caterpillar ECF-3 specification, designed for 2007 diesel engines fitted with diesel particulate filters (DPF) that use 15 ppm ultra low sulfur diesel fuel (USLD). Meeting both the ECF-2 and ECF-3 specifications enables operators to implement a one oil inventory strategy for pre-2007 and 2007 compliant Caterpillar on- and off-highway equipment.
