Continental Tire North America Inc. CTNA) has released its new HTR2, an all-position wide base tire for construction vehicles operating mainly on regional roads.
According to the tire maker, the HTR2, which replaces the HTR wide base tire, now offers 20% more wear volume than the original through a wider tread pattern and an increase in tread depth, now at 22/32 in.
The new tire owes its durability and advanced performance characteristics to the wider tread and shoulder ribs, which improve wear, CTNA said. The tread grooves reduce stone trapping and the exclusive tread compound technology is cut- and chip-resistant, which allows for higher tread endurance and optimal product performance. This compound is also 5% less rolling resistant than the original HTR, resulting in greater fuel efficiency.
CTNA’s stone ejection system reduces casing penetrations and actively ejects rocks and debris from the tire’s grooves to prevent stone trapping and drilling. It also protects against the cracking and tearing associated with stone retention, the company added.
The new tire’s enhanced design now features a reinforced steel core bead that promotes stiffness and retreadability, and is rated for load range L. It can be ordered now and is available in 385/65R22.5 and 445/65R22.5 sizes. For more information,
