East Penn introduces heavy-duty battery

East Penn Manufacturing introduced a BCI Group 31 heavy-duty battery to be included in its Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Deka Intimidator line.

East Penn Manufacturing introduced a BCI Group 31 heavy-duty battery to be included in its Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Deka Intimidator line.

The line is designed for heavy-duty engine starting and the many accessory loads typical of trucks, buses, farm equipment or other large, demanding applications. The company said its leakproof design enables many installation options, while providing added power, protection and service for equipment.

Designed to resist life-robbing vibration, the Deka Intimidator’s tight-pack plate and separator construction is designed for the daily demands of work truck and equipment service. Its maintenance-free design provides a secure fit; with stainless steel terminals that resist corrosion for longer service life, the company said.

The Deka Intimidator’s flat plate design optimizes efficiency by making full use of the available cube space, which results in more active material and headspace (the space above the cells that retains gasses waiting for recombination), the company said. Its complete use of internal cube space ensures a better fit, with less retrofit, while providing maximum power.

The design lowers resistance, increases power, and eliminates acid spills, leaks and terminal corrosion by utilizing highly micro-porous separators to absorb electrolyte, the company said. Eliminating the need to add water, the Deka Intimidator’s flat plate design offers increased efficiency for maintenance-free performance and power.
