How next gen electric trucks boost range, application suitability

EV range anxiety is a thing. With the first generation of electric trucks on the road, working in real-world applications, the anticipated approximate 150 mile range makes more than a few pause and take notice of the equipment’s limitations. Yet, when Volvo Trucks North America announced that the next generation Volvo VNR Electric model, which will begin production this quarter, features an up to 85% increased range, faster charging and more configurations for heavy-duty transport, the feeling quickly turns from range anxiety to, “It evolved how fast?”

So when I was at the TMC show in Orlando, Fla., I swung by the Volvo Trucks booth to find out how they were able to innovation on the VNR Electric platform so quickly. Andy Brown, product marketing manager, Volvo Trucks North America, saw me poking my head under the hood of the new VNR Electric truck and was kind enough to walk me through the new features. Watch the video above for all of his insight.
