Fontaine Modification introduces dual drive conversion for Kenworth medium-duty trucks

Fontaine Modification introduces Kenworth Premium Sit-Down Dual Drive conversion.

Fontaine Modification Medium & Heavy Truck Operations has introduced its Kenworth Premium Sit-Down Dual Drive modification — a sit-down dual drive (SDDD) conversion for Kenworth T180, T280, T380 and T480 medium-duty conventional trucks. Fontaine also offers a sit-down dual drive modification for the Kenworth K370 COE model.

SDDD modifications add a right-hand drive station to the vehicle, enabling drivers to comfortably operate from either the right or left side. The company says that this is crucial for applications where the driver needs to operate curbside, like refuse collection, street sweeping and road striping.

Fontaine’s new Kenworth Premium Sit-Down Dual Drive modification is designed to make the right-hand driving position virtually identical to the original left-side position so drivers can operate with equal comfort and efficiency no matter where they are sitting. Fontaine’s team performs the conversion at its Chillicothe, Ohio, modification center.

FlowBelow Aero, Inc., has introduced its new AeroFender, a device that is equipped to truck wheels and reduces drag on day- and sleeper-cabs. FlowBelow tells us that the AeroFender improves fuel efficiency by re-directing the airflow ahead of and around a power unit’s leading drive axle.

At a controlled track test completed in November 2023 by Mesilla Valley Transportation Solutions, FlowBelow says its technology was proven to save 1.49 gallons of fuel for every 1,000 miles driven, or 1.44% overall. The company says that fleets can expect a truck equipped with an AeroFender and traveling 125,000 miles per year to save an estimated 187 gallons of fuel and approximately 4,207.5 lbs. of CO2.
