Ford recalling 2 million trucks over unsafe over potentially fire-causing seat belts

Ford is recalling about 2 million F-150 pickups over seatbelts that can spark and cause fires, the AP reports.

The recall covers vehicles from 2015 to 2018 and comes a month after the NHTSA began to investigate reports of fires in the vehicles. The company has acknowledged 23 reports of smoke or fire in the now-recalled vehicles. The company has acknowledged that sparks can be generated by generated in the seat belt pretensioners and ignite gases inside a support pillar between front and rear seats, leading to the carpet and insulation catching fire.
