Since the start of production in March 2013, Freightiner Trucks has received more than 15,000 orders for 2014 model Cascadia Evolution tractors. Powered by the Detroit DD15 engine and equipped with the new Detroit DT12 Automated Manual Transmission, the Cascadia Evolution features aerodynamic and efficiency improvements that the OEM says deliver up to an additional seven percent improvement in fuel economy over an EPA 2010-compliant Cascadia, and up to five better fuel efficiency over the 2013 Cascadia.
Enhanced aerodynamics on the 2014 Cascadia Evolution include several frontal area updates designed to improve airflow, including a new air dam, bumper closure and a hood-to-bumper fill. The model also has an improved windshield seal, elliptical-shaped aerodynamic mirrors and an integrated antenna. New wheel covers on rear tandem axles, chassis side fairings and 20-in. side extenders are incorporated as well.
