Heavy-duty orders up, medium-duty orders down in November

For the month of November, preliminary Classes 5-8 order data from ACT Research Co. shows that the industry booked 36,600 net orders.

“Class 8 net orders rebounded to 19,500 units for the month,” said Kenny Vieth, ACT’s president and senior analyst. “This follows cancellation-impacted October net orders of 13,900 units. But for cancellations, Class 8 net orders in October would have been comparable to November’s order total. Given peak order season, seasonal adjustment lowers the month’s net order tally to 18,000 units, a 216,000 unit SAAR.”

Medium-duty Classes 5-7 orders fell to 17,100 units, down 18% month over month and 10% year over year. “Year-to-date medium duty orders are flat. November is a neutral month on a seasonal basis, with adjustment reducing orders to 17,000,” said Vieth.
