Hubb Filters has introduced a new 8-in. spin-on oil filter to its filter portfolio. This filter is designed for use on Class 2 through 6 light- and medium-duty diesel engines. Compared to gasoline-powered engines, the company said, diesel engines produce more soot and combustion byproducts which end up in the crankcase. In fact, most of the contaminants trapped by the oil filter are soot and sludge—byproducts of combustion—rather than engine wear particles or dust or dirt from the environment. For that purpose, diesel engines need an oil filter that is much larger and has a higher holding capacity, the company explained.
Hubb’s 8-in. oil filter features the same patented filter-in-filter design as its 3-in. filter, and is made with surgical stainless steel weave filtering media and two pressure differential values for more efficient oil flow, contaminant capture and increased safety. Hubb’s 8-in. reusable and cleanable filter also helps the environment by eliminating the need to dispose of used filters in landfills, the company said. It is backed with a 100,000-mile performance guarantee.
“I am excited to debut our 8-in. filter for all of my light- and medium-duty diesel friends,” said Christopher Hubbard, the company’s founder and chief scientist. “This filter has been designed to flow better while making your oil pump run easier and reduce engine noise. In fact, you will be able to hear the difference at idle.”
