Thirty trucks equipped with RouteMax and capable of extended route cold plated deliveries soon will be on the road. E.A. Sween Co., maker of Deli Express Sandwiches will be the fist customer to use a full-equipped RouteMax delivery vehicle, the company said.
RouteMax allows users to charge the cold plates as they drive, which reduces plug-in time for the cold plates and extends delivery routes, the company said. The initial cost of the truck body, power unit and refrigeration system will be lower than a mechanical blower body and refrigeration, the company said. Operating costs of the RouteMax system are limited to the electrical shore power required to recharge the cold plates while they are plugged in at night.
