Kenworth T680 Advantage with 52-in. mid-roof sleeper now available

Kenworth’s T680 52-in. mid-roof sleeper Advantage Package, for regional haul and less-than truckload operations, is now available for order. The latest Kenworth T680 Advantage configuration features an optimized powertrain with either the PACCAR MX-13 or PACCAR MX-11 engine, Eaton Fuller Advantage series 10-speed automated transmission, and the new PACCAR tandem drive axle.

The 52-in. mid-roof sleeper configuration offers new aerodynamic elements including a front air dam, flared-out fairings, lower sleeper fairing extenders and FlowBelow wheel covers that enhance fuel economy by effectively redirecting airflow around the chassis, sleeper and trailer. Other notable fuel-efficiency features are Kenworth’s Predictive Cruise Control, Neutral Coast, and Driver Performance Assistant.

The T680 Advantage Package provides customers running the 52-in. mid-roof sleeper with up to a 6% fuel economy benefit compared to a standard Kenworth T680 52-in. mid-roof sleeper running the previous generation of PACCAR MX-13 engine, Eaton Fuller automated transmission, and standard drive axles, according to Kenworth.

According to the latest numbers from ACT Research, preliminary North America Class 8 net orders were 27,700 units, up 600 units from January and 16% from a year ago. With the fourth-largest seasonal factor of the year at 8%, seasonal adjustment reduces February’s Class 8 intake to 25,600 units, up 5% from January.

“Weak freight and carrier profitability fundamentals, and large carriers guiding to lower capex in 2024, would imply pressure in U.S. tractor, the North American Class 8 market’s largest segment,” said Kenny Vieth, ACT’s president and senior analyst. “While we do not yet have the underlying detail for February order volumes, Class 8 demand continuing at high levels again this month suggests that U.S. buyers continue as strong market participants.”
