Interior lighting quality is important in many trucking operations, and Truck-Lite says it works closely with truck and trailer manufacturers and fleet customers to provide lighting products to make their jobs safer, easier and more efficient. As a result of this type of customer feedback, the company recently released two new LED products to the marketplace. Truck-Lite says its new LED Strip Lite products improve brightness inside truck bodies and trailers and eliminate most shadows that interfere with a driver’s ability to get the job done. Each strip covers a broad area, so lighting is even with minimal shadows. White LED lighting is brighter and whiter than other forms of interior trailer lighting, so colors are truer and freight labels are easier to read, the company says. This helps eliminate errors in securing product, selecting items and doing paperwork. This new product line has all the benefits of LED safety lighting with minimal intrusion into cargo or work spaces. That helps avoid damage from loading equipment. Truck-Lite says that, compared to fluorescent lighting products, its Super Strip Lite saves an average of 3 lbs. per lamp in a typical installation. Truck-Lite also introduced its Model 80 LED interior trailer lamps, a new line of LED lamps designed to be direct replacements for the most popular sizes and shapes. LEDs have many advantages over incandescent and fluorescent lights. In trailers, they provide a brighter, whiter light that allows a more realistic view of trailer contents, the company says. LEDs also are more effective in van trailers in cold weather and in refrigerated trailers. And, they don’t flicker like fluorescent lighting. The rugged aluminum housings are 5 3/16-in. wide by 18 13/16-in. long and weigh two lbs. They are 1 1/4-in. thick, compared with 1 5/8-in. fluorescent lamps. That allows 3/8-in. more clearance for loads or loading equipment.
