The newest member of the Econodyne engine product line for on-highway customers from Mack Trucks is the MP8 Econodyne+ engine. The 13-liter rated at 505 HP and 1,860 ft.-lb. of torque is available in Pinnacle models.

Using the company’s EconoBoost torque management strategy, the MP8 Econodyne+ engine provides an additional 200 ft.-lb. of torque at lower engine speeds. When ascending a steep incline, the engine’s RPM drops to around peak torque output, enabling the truck to remain in top gear for a longer time period until the hill is crested.
