Equipped Macks to span the continent for hands-on driving experience. Twenty Mack Granite and Pinnacle trucks will fan out across North America beginning in late June to spread the news about the outstanding performance and power of these vehicles equipped with US’07-certified Mack MP engines. The trucks are part of the “Mack Performance Tour” from Mack Trucks Inc., and will visit Mack dealerships in the U.S. and Canada through the end of September.

“Nothing beats a hands-on experience to get customers excited about new products,” said Tom Kelly, Mack vice president, marketing. “Customers have told us they really want to see the US’07 engines and experience their operation so they can get comfortable with the emissions technology. So we are sending these trucks on the road to demonstrate the quality, productivity, reliability and performance of our trucks and new engines.”

“Mack customers and potential customers will be able to test-drive these trucks at Mack dealerships during the Tour. Anyone who drives a Mack Granite or Pinnacle will experience the incredible power and torque of our new Mack MP7 and MP8 engines. We expect these thoroughly modern engines to deliver improved fuel economy over the previous generation of Mack engines, especially for our vocational customers,” Kelly added.

The Mack Performance Tour was kicked off with a special dealer and customer event in Las Vegas recently. Afterwards, the trucks will hit the roads, with each Mack loaded to capacity to give customers a real feel for the power of the MP engines. Mack dealerships will publicize their own events locally with customers. In addition, Mack Trucks will unveil a special website in mid-June to update Tour schedules for customers http://www.mackperformancetour.com.

The Mack MP7 and MP8 engines offer customers a broader range of engine offerings than the previous generation of Mack engines, with more horsepower ratings. The engine ratings are also more precisely matched to customer applications. This means better efficiency. In addition, the engines’ higher power density makes it possible for customers in some weight-sensitive applications to select the smaller displacement MP7. At the same time, customers can choose from the famous Mack Econodyne, MaxiCruise and Maxidyne engine families for their MP7 and MP8 engines, to address their specific operating conditions.

Customers will also experience the driver comfort, ergonomics and high quality of Mack’s Pinnacle highway tractor and Granite vocational truck. The Pinnacle and Granite models were designed to be reliable, productive, easy to use and easier to service. Combined with the new MP engines, both trucks have improved drivability, with extended on-highway service intervals.
