The Michelin X Line Energy Z+ tire, the company’s newest addition to the Michelin X Line Energy Z long-haul product line launched in 2016, is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2023. Features include low rolling resistance, excellent mileage and long-lasting traction, the company noted during a press conference held at the 2023 TMC annual meeting. It is the same tire featured on the steer position of the recently unveiled Freightliner SuperTruck 2.
The new tire uses both Infinicoil and Regenion sculpture technology, the company said. Infinicoil features a continuous steel wire, up to ¼ mile in length, that is wrapped around the tire circumference to make it more stable and durable throughout its service life, Michelin noted. Regenion utilizes metal 3D printing techniques that enable the tread design to evolve over time as it wears, giving drivers the grip they need over the service life of the tire in all conditions, the company said.
“The 18/32” deep tread design of the Michelin X Line Energy Z+ tire features Regenion technology, and an evolving tread design allows additional tread grooves to develop at lower tread depths,” said Karen Schwartz, B2B vice president of marketing, Michelin North America Inc.
The Michelin X Line Energy Z+ will be offered only in size 295/75R22.5 LRH.
