Michelin, Volvo recognize safest truck fleets

Michelin Americas Truck Tires and Volvo Trucks recently announced the winners of the 2012 Volvo Trucks Safety Award, which recognizes and promotes highway safety in the trucking industry.

Two category award winners were announced during the American Trucking Associations’ Annual Management Conference & Exhibition held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.     

Munoz Trucking, a division 1 fleet that traveled up to 20 million miles annually and ERB International Inc., a division 2 fleet that traveled more than 20 million miles annually, each received a plaque of recognition and $25,000.

“Michelin is committed to safety. By recognizing fleets who strive for zero accidents through their active safety programs, we encourage the industry to promote what we value,” said Jaye Young, MATT country marketing manager. “We congratulate Munoz Trucking and ERB International Inc. Many fleets are striving for improved safety for their fleets and for all motorists using the highways and byways across our nation.  We encourage the trucking industry to adopt the best practices of this year’s winners.”
