New premium single-stage topcoat from Sherwin-Williams

The new Genesis HP Premium Single-Stage two-component urethane topcoat from Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes provides quicker process times with no baking required, saving shops time and energy costs.

Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes said its new Genesis HP Premium Single-Stage two-component urethane topcoat provides quicker process times with no baking required. This allows OEMs and fleet repair shops to turn down the heat to increase energy savings and improve production times, the maker added. With Genesis HP, paint shops can go from prime to finished product up to 65% faster and save more than 75% on energy costs related to the paint process.

According to the company, when used with one of Sherwin-Williams Genesis primers, the Genesis HP Premium Single-Stage Topcoat delivers a premium finish that is out of dust in as little as eight minutes and tape-free within 30 to 40 minutes. It cures in ambient temperatures, at about 70-75 degrees. Not only does this eliminate high-heat bake cycles to reduce a paint shop’s energy requirements, it also helps meet even the tightest cycle time goals.

Easy to mix and use, the system provides other benefits including: resistance to chipping in extreme conditions; excellent moisture, chemical, and corrosion resistance; and excellent color and gloss levels, Sherwin-Williams added. This new topcoat system is VOC compliant and offers a wide selection of the most popular solid colors in the market.

Because of its incredibly fast dry times, the paint system is an ideal system for OEMs and fleet refinishers. Markets that can benefit from this new finish include utility and service body vehicles, light and medium-duty trailers, equipment and small part manufacturers, as well as the fleet repair and refinish market, the company added.
