OTC introduces new professional master fuel injection kit

OTC said its new professional master fuel injection kit is a full coverage tool set that was developed to accommodate nearly every fuel injection system application on most domestic and foreign engine platforms from 1988 to the present. The kit includes an application guide and comes in a blow-molded case with a removable lid for convenient storage and easy access to components.

OTC, an SPX brand, has introduced its new professional master fuel injection kit, the 6550PRO, a full coverage tool set that was developed to accommodate nearly every fuel injection system application on most domestic and foreign engine platforms from 1988 to the present. The kit includes an innovative, comprehensive application guide, which gives technicians the convenience of having required service information at their fingertips, the company said.

“We designed the 6550PRO with input from a wide range of customers,” said Dirk Skogerboe, OTC aftermarket product manager of professional specialty tools. “Technicians asked for the information that we have compiled in our application manual, as well as specifying the new adapters they had needs for. Technicians also wanted a kit that could sit open in a four-inch toolbox drawer for easy access to components. We accomplished all three, giving our customers a newly designed set that improves their day-to-day productivity by minimizing setup time and reducing time-consuming workarounds. The blow-molded case with its removable lid allows for convenient storage and easy access to components, yet closes tightly for safe transport.”

“This master set gives aftermarket service experts the ability to work on anything that rolls into their shop. Quick connect adapters use Schrader valves to prevent fuel/solvent spray and every seal used is made of Viton rubber, which resists swelling or cracking, even when exposed to ethanol blend fuels,” added Skogerboe. “This is simply the best pressure testing, direct injection and manifold cleaning kit in the market.”

The components of the 6550PRO include 47 of the OTC fuel injection adapters, a 0-100 PSI analog pressure gauge with manifold for accurate pressure reading and basic flow testing, hose assemblies and a variety of seals, fuel line and clamps, according to the company.

The key feature of the “PRO” is the Professional Fuel Injection Application Manual (P/N 6550MAN-08), with 1997 to 2008 make/model/year/VIN application data, referencing the fuel pump disable points, OE fuel pressure specs, adapter number and fuel line access points. OE labor rate information in the operating instructions provides the convenience of having a single point of service information. The operating instructions are printed in English, Spanish and French to support the North American technician base. The fully detailed user manual includes test connection illustrations and application charts. The 6550MAN-08 is available for purchase separately, as well.

The OTC 6550PRO also comes with a laminated card showing color images of components, with part numbers for quick reference. The blow-molded case provides organized storage and numerically identifies each adapter. The lid can be easily separated if the technician prefers storing the trays in a tool drawer, OTC said.

Also introduced is an update kit for current owners of the OTC 6550 master fuel injection fitting kit (P/N 6550UPD). The 6550UPD update kit gives technicians an economical way to convert their 6550 kit into the 6550PRO. The update kit contains all of the new adapters found in the “PRO” and also comes with the 6550MAN-08 1997 to 2008 professional fuel injection application manual and a variety of replacement seals, fuel line and clamps.

To complete the full line of fuel service kits from OTC, a new basic fuel service kit is now available. Under the Stinger Brand, the 4480 Basic Fuel Injection Service Kit is ideal for technicians looking to begin offering fuel system services, and for shops looking to add a second fuel service tool. The 4480 kit includes an analog pressure gauge and adapters, providing coverage for many popular domestic and import vehicles.
