Ram and Verizon Connect partner on factory-installed telematics solution

Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA) and Verizon Connect announced a partnership in which Verizon Connect will provide a factory-installed telematics solution for Ram commercial vehicles. The solution will be called Ram Telematics powered by Verizon Connect.

Verizon Telematics and its associated companies recently rebranded as Verizon Connect; you can read more about that here.

Verizon Connect says that offering this solution and working directly with Ram increases the quality and reliability of the data delivered to the customers. Ram also noted that a factory-fit solution improves cybersecurity capabilities.

Models that will come with this solution include the 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500 and 550 trucks as well as the ProMaster and ProMaster City vans.

Ram will begin to offer the Verizon Connect factory-installed solution in its 2018 model year (MY) trucks this month, in its ProMaster and ProMaster City vans this fall, in its 2019 MY trucks next summer.

It will also be available as a retrofit option on select vehicles of 2015 MY and newer.
