Rand McNally introduced its new ELD 50 plug-and-play device to help commercial drivers comply with the federal electronic logging mandate. Rand McNally designed ELD 50 as a cost-effective, quick-install solution for over-the-road drivers, the company said. ELD 50 fits in your hand, takes less than a minute to install directly into the truck’s diagnostics port and is designed to work seamlessly with most drivers’ Android mobile devices, including the Rand McNally TND Tablet.
Through a free app, drivers can track hours of service (HOS) and driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) wirelessly with their personal devices.
Under federal law, drivers only keeping paper logs have until Dec. 2017 to begin tracking hours electronically, but those who transition to ELDs earlier can save time, save money, improve safety, and increase efficiency.
Together with the Rand McNally DriverConnect app and portal, drivers using ELD 50 will have access to a performance and diagnostic tracking ecosystem.
With the ELD 50, drivers can track:
- Instant MPG
- Trip MPG
- Lifetime MPG
- Gallons per hour
- Boost pressure
- Miles per hour
- RPM
- Battery voltage
- Coolant temperature
- Engine oil pressure
