SAF-Holland has announced significant engineering updates, as well as the expansion of application breadth, to its CBX Series Suspension System offering for the North American trailer market. One of the most significant engineering innovations responsible for the lower weight and increased application coverage is the introduction of the company’s new Fusion Beam Technology, SAF-Holland said. This innovative approach to trailing arm beam design is currently being integrated into the CBX Series lineup of suspension systems including the CBX40, CBX23, CBX25 and the CBX25/30, according to the company.
Fusion Beam Technology represents the fusion of a fabricated tailpiece to the back of the suspension’s cast steel beam to create a component that can be configured to meet a wider range of systems dimension requirements and meet a wider range of application demands. The new beam technology reduces trailing arm beam weight without compromising structural integrity by combining two proven suspension technologies to produce one efficient high-strength component. Fusion Beams will be offered in a variety of beam dimensions to meet current and future van and vocational applications, the maker noted.
Another weight saving and performance enhanced engineering feature integrated into the updated CBX Series is the optimized SAF X-Series 5 ¾-in. round axle. The axle offers a number of options to achieve best-in-class suspension configurations, according to the company.
