SKF recently introduced four new PSI compatible hubcaps to its premium wheel-end Scotseal product offering. The new hubcaps are compatible with the Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by Pressure Systems Incorporated (PSI), an automatic tire inflation system (ATIS). MTIS uses compressed air from a trailer’s air system to inflate any tire that falls below a specified pre-set pressure. The system ultimately increases tire life, fuel efficiency and safety, its maker says.
"The new PSI compatible SKF hubcaps provide fleets with a reliable and safe option to maintain wheel end systems during over-the-road operation," says Leslie Kern, Senior Product Manager, Heavy Duty Market, SKF. "These new hubcaps complement our superior line of Scotseal products, including the Scotseal PlusXL wheel seal."
Added Steve Otteman, VP of Operations, PSI, "From an operations viewpoint, the new PSI hubcap from SKF is another extension of our long standing partnership with SKF in which they have supplied PSI with vital raw material components. The hubcap is critical in supplying our customers with a full range of quality wheel-end products. We are pleased to have another SKF product in our PSI tool kit."
The new hubcaps incorporate the same leak-proof technology currently built into SKF’s Scotseal TF hubcap product line. SKF TF hubcaps are manufactured of lightweight Dupont Zytel that resists impact damage, extreme weather conditions, road salt and UV radiation or ozone. The PSI insert is incorporated into the hubcap’s fusion-bonded window, which ensures a leak-proof characteristic. Additionally, dual side fill plugs offer convenience that, according to SKF, other hubcaps do not offer.
