Donaldson Filter Minder Connect receives Jim Winsor Technical Achievement Award

The North American Truck Writers, a committee of transportation and logistics writers, announced at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition that Donaldson Filter Minder Connect is the winner of the 2022 Jim Winsor Technical Achievement Award for its connected IoT filtration monitoring solution. The annual award spotlights products or services that embody innovation, vision, technical achievement, and general applicability and benefits for commercial truck operators.

Donaldson Filter Minder Connect technology offers real-time filter and oil condition monitoring – plus predictive analytics–to optimize service intervals, maximize filter life, and reduce operating costs. The modular platform can expand to a fleet’s requirements as needed and fleet managers are able to monitor selected equipment in a single dashboard.

Each year, a committee of editors representing the industry’s major publications nominates products and services introduced the previous year. The writers choose five finalists and one overall winner for the Technical Achievement Award. Donaldson Filter Minder Connect was selected as the winner from among these finalists:

  • Alcoa dual-valve system – Allows for use of two valve stems so the tire pressure monitoring sensor can operate on one valve while air pressure is serviced on the other, so there’s no disruption to the TPM system during airing up or other maintenance.
  • Doleco decking system – Uses LayerLoc interfaces to easily adjust decks that add capacity to van trailers truck bodies.
  • Hyundai Translead Linksense – A single-portal open-platform smart trailer system that integrates with multiple telematics providers to send operations data from their sensors.
  • Thermo King e200 all-electric reefer unit — Fully electric refrigeration with an inverter, variable-speed compressor and smart control unit for small- to medium-sized vans and trucks.

The Technology Achievement Award was first presented in 1991 and renamed the Jim Winsor Technical Achievement award in 2016 to honor the highly respected, long-time truck journalist, James W. Winsor, who passed away in 2015. The award is now sponsored by LaunchIt Public Relations.
