Thermo King announced the launch of an industry council, which the company says is aimed at understanding the challenges behind a zero-emissions cold chain and developing a roadmap to an all-electric transport industry. The council is an online community made up of various-sized fleets including refrigerated and mixed-load trucks and trailers for long-haul, mid-mile and last-mile.
“Reducing our customers’ carbon footprint and adding value to their operations is fundamental to our strategy, and electrification is the best way to achieve this goal,” said Paul Kroes, strategic insights leader for Thermo King Americas. “This platform provides members a unique opportunity to share their perspective on trends that are shaping the industry like electrification and the barriers that need to be addressed such as infrastructure, cost, and range. They are also learning from their peers and staying current on other industry trends,” said Kroes.
Thermo King says it is expanding the council and is seeking new members to join. Over the coming months, the company is planning events and activities specifically geared to the transportation industry. Participating members will have the opportunity to join in polls, surveys, chat room discussions, expert webinars and focus groups about a variety of key topics related to the future of electrification in products, markets and their unique operational needs, Thermo King says.
