Thermo King details new Precedent Trailer Refrigeration Platform

Thermo King aims to reduce environmental impact with Precedent Trailer Refrigeration Platform

Thermo King has introduced the Precedent S-750i trailer refrigeration unit for transport refrigeration for long-haul and local food distribution. Electrification, integrated shore power, embedded telematics, and a lower-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant all contribute to Thermo King’s efforts in helping customers transition fleets to reduce their environmental impact and stay ahead of future regulation.

Utilizing the S-Series engine, the S-750i meets current and proposed California Air Resources Board (CARB) Ultra-Low Emission Transport Refrigeration Unit (ULETRU) emissions without the use of a diesel particulate filter (DPF).

The enhanced operational efficiencies of the S-750i leverage Thermo King’s Precedent platform and introduce several new first use features. These include a three-speed engine, which optimizes efficiencies at fresh and frozen; a next-generation control system, which offers precise temperature control; and a diesel electric architecture optimized for shore power integration, which makes the S-750i an ideal investment for customers using or considering shore power operation long-term, Thermo King detailed.

The benefits of shore power operation, according to Thermo King, include:

• Increased efficiency— up to four time more efficient than diesel.
• Environmental impact— fewer emissions than diesel.
• Quieter operation— at least three decibels quieter than diesel motor operation.
• Less maintenance— reduces engine hour operation.
• Longer TRU life— with less diesel operation, engine maintenance time frames are extended.

Every S-750i trailer unit also comes equipped with TracKing telematics to deliver the data customers need and does so for the first 12 months of ownership with no service charge. Telematics can help fleet owners monitor temperature, offers rapid alarm detection and security alerts when the doors are opened, and detects fuel loss, the company said.
