A large format 17- by 23-in. recommended Commercial Wheel Torque Specification Chart is available for free from Myers Tire Supply. The chart covers torque recommendations for hub and stud piloted wheels and demountable rims. Also included are oiling recommendations and service suggestions. The charts are designed to be hung prominently in the service area to remind technicians of proper wheel torque processes to help prevent premature tread wear or even potential wheel-off situations, Myers said.
The chart also outlines the Tire Industry Association’s R.I.S.T. program: Remove debris from mating surfaces; Inspect components; Snug lug nuts in a star pattern; and Torque to specification.
