CIMC and Direct Chassis, a CIMC Company, jointly introduced a new refrigerated trailer, the CIMC R8000. This new reefer trailer, introduced at the Mid-America Trucking Show, has been completely engineered to meet all U.S. DOT regulations.

The trailer, which is manufactured at CIMC’s plant in China, is assembled onto a chassis in the U.S. The R8000 features a high gloss stainless steel top face and corner cover, a bolt-on landing gear and rear bumper, a rivetless door panel design, air ride slider suspension, a hidden wiring harness and a unique knurled floor.

The quality of foaming allows for a lightweight, 2-inch sidewall that maximizes cargo space. Various configurations and specification options will be available to provide added value to refrigerated equipment investments.

The CIMC R8000 will be available in June with North American distribution primarily through an elite network of CIMC Master Dealers, Direct Chassis dealers and Vanguard National Trailer Corp. dealers. The master dealers will become the “flagship” group representing all CIMC equipment, including the new CIMC reefer, freight vans by Vanguard, flatbeds and container chassis by Direct Chassis, containers by CIMC and other equipment that becomes available in the future.

“Vanguard has made and will continue to make adjustments to keep up with changing demand in the industry,” said Charlie Mudd, president of Vanguard National Trailer. “We’ve made decisions that will allow us to prosper in this economy and prepare for when the industry turns around.

He noted Vanguard’s partnership with CIMC, which is the largest producer of refrigerated trailers globally, will open up even more options to North American customers.
