Volvo Trucks continues America’s Road Team sponsorship in 2017

Volvo Trucks has announced that it will again serve as the exclusive sponsor of the America’s Road Team public outreach program in 2017.

“The America’s Road Team program continues to play a valuable role in bringing our industry’s messages of safety, essentiality and environmental care directly to lawmakers and the motoring public,” said Gӧran Nyberg, president of Volvo Trucks North America. “We appreciate the work of the America’s Road Team Captains and applaud these professional drivers for their outstanding safety records and commitment to promoting the trucking industry. We are proud to extend our sponsorship of this valuable outreach program once again in 2017.”

America’s Road Team Captains are experienced professional drivers who have logged millions of accident-free miles behind the wheel. The Captains travel around the country in a Volvo VNL 780 model, which hauls the ATA’s Image Trailer featuring exhibits and displays used during presentations. The Captains bring their messages of safety and essentiality to students, community groups, lawmakers and government official.

The Volvo VNL model is equipped with Volvo advanced safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control with integrated collision avoidance, Volvo Enhanced Stability Control and the Volvo I-Shift automated manual transmission.

The Captains serve two-year terms. The 2017-2018 America’s Road Team Captains will soon be announced.

“We thank the 2015-2016 Captains for their dedicated service and their exemplary safety record,” Nyberg said.
