In what is becoming an annual event, Volvo Trucks North America President Peter Voorhoeve took time during ATA MC&E to reflect on the past year and look to what the future holds for Volvo Trucks. Volvo has taken huge strides in heavy-duty battery electric truck development, deployment and support, hosting an electromobility summit and publishing the lessons the company learned from the Volvo LIGHTS Project. Volvo also gained market share in 2022, Voorhoeve noted, launched I-Torque for Volvo’s diesel powertrains and rolled out its autonomous demo truck to several industry events.
I wanted to find out what was driving Volvo’s gains beyond the electric truck efforts, how its diesel-powered offering is gaining ground, and what it’s going to take for autonomous technology to take off in the real world. Watch the video for Voorhoeve’s take on the current market climate and where Volvo Trucks is going into 2023.
