The ESCsmart “Drive-It-Away” Sweepstakes winner named by WABCO is Gloria Merritt of Merritt Transport in Maysville, W.V. Merritt will have an opportunity to drive a 600 HP NASCAR stock car while participating in the King’s Experience with the popular Richard Petty Driving Experience. The sweepstakes was held during the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show and was part of a Facebook social media promotion for WABCO to expand awareness of the enhanced safety features of its ESCsmart electronic stability control technology.
“We are delighted to announce the winner of the WABCO ESCsmart ‘Drive-it-Away’ Sweepstakes,” said Steve Hampson, director of sales at WABCO North America. “By winning, Gloria Merritt will learn to take control of a powerful NASCAR vehicle, just as our ESCsmart technology helps commercial vehicle drivers control their vehicles to avoid spin out, jackknife or potential rollover events.”
Richard Petty, nicknamed “The King” for his success as a seven-time NASCAR champion, started the Richard Petty Driving Experience for people who have an interest in experiencing the thrill of NASCAR racing first-hand. The King’s Experience consists of 18 laps of driving over two sessions. Between driving sessions, drivers receive one-on-one feedback from the Pit Road Instructor, as well as additional instruction from on-track driving instructors.
