The importance of proper tire inflation can not be overstated.
Under-inflation is the biggest issue in the truck tire industry and the number one cause of premature wear-out.
Under-inflated tires build up excessive heat, and this can result in a variety of negative outcomes including: poor fuel economy, irregular wear, improper vehicle handling and even the destruction of the tire itself.
But while under-inflation is undeniably bad, don’t go too far in the other direction and over-inflate your tires. Over-inflation has its own set of problems that go along with it. The way the rubber hits the road on an over-inflated tire is not optimal, and greatly decreases traction and causes irregular wear.
