According to the companies, the fully on-board navigation solution calculates optimal, truck-specific routes without using mobile communications or off-board computations, ensuring the most reliable, rapid access to offline highway and street-level digital maps. Voice-guided, truck-specific turn-by-turn directions are automatically generated, with optimal new routes instantly calculated if a driver misses a turn or deviates from the planned route.

Xata said it delivers real-time critical information on vehicle and driver performance, making it easy for fleet managers, dispatchers and drivers to collect, sort, view and analyze data to help reduce costs, increase safety and compliance, and improve customer satisfaction. “As a leader in fleet optimization, we help our customers save time, fuel and money as well as comply with changing regulations, and CoPilot Truck 8 Professional plays a major role by providing optimal routes with the safety of voice guidance,” said Christian Schenk, vice president of product marketing for Xata. “The added functionality continues the success of Xata’s strategy to partner with other leading industry software and hardware companies to provide the power and convenience of best-in-class solutions to today’s fleets.”

“CoPilot Truck 8 Professional brings Xata customers cutting-edge, voice-guided navigation combined with the power of XataNet’s fleet management and compliance tools,” said Michael Kornhauser, senior vice president of enterprise solutions for ALK Technologies. “This powerful combination maximizes operational efficiencies and enables transportation companies of all sizes to achieve fleet-wide safety and compliance objectives.”

CoPilot Truck 8 Professional features also include Lane Assist, real sign post information combined with lane indicator arrows provide clear guidance on which lane to take; and CoPilot ClearTurn, which provides a clear, realistic view on the approach to complex intersections and highway exits.

In addition to enhanced functionality, CoPilot Truck 8 Professional is now available for use on Micronet’s CE 504 and CE-507 in-cab touchscreen devices.
