Hendrickson launches Watchman trailer wheel-end sensing technology

Hendrickson has introduced Watchman advanced wheel-end sensor technology for trailers that operates on the vehicle area network developed by Sensata Technologies. The initial product offering will include trailer tire pressure monitoring, wheel-end temperature and wheel-end vibration data that will be communicated to the fleet through the tractor telematics system pulling the trailer.

Trailer orders up month-over-month but down year-over-year

New U.S. trailer orders of 21,600 were up 44% month-over-month, and after accounting for cancellations, net orders of 18,600 hit their third sequential increase in ten months, rising 73% from August, but down 68% compared to September of 2018.

FTR: September Class 8 retail sales at an all-time high

September Class 8 preliminary U.S. retail sales were 28,200, 4% higher than the previous record of December 2006, according to FTR. Sales were up 20% month-over-month and 20% year-over-year. All OEMs reported robust activity for the month, FTR added.
