Toyo introduces M657 drive tire with SmartWay verification

The M657 was developed using Toyo’s e-balance technology, which includes a stiffer belt package, stiffer bead construction and optimization through simulation technology. Benefits include improved tire life, endurance, irregular wear resistance and fuel consumption.

Continental unveils next generation construction tires

The HSC1 and HDC1 are the latest in the tire maker’s construction tire line. Each tire features a long-chain polymer compound designed to prevent deep tears; a 4-ply belt with reinforced second and third layers; an improved bead core design for durability and extended life; and a special contour shape with steeper sidewalls to provide greater stability and minimized sidewall flexing.

Continental rolls out motor coach tire

The HSL1 Coach, a premium steer and all-position tire for long distance motor coaches, offers a low rolling resistance compound and special tread design to improve fuel economy. The tire features 19/32nds of tread depth and a five-rib tread pattern to provide excellent handling, and is available in size 315/80R22.5, load range L.

Valve Stem Extension Stabilizers, available in 2-in., 2.5-in. or 2.8-in. sizes, help prevent damage to extensions caused by the rubbing of the extension against the aluminum wheel. Also available but sold separately, the company’s LED TireWatch Monitors help maintain safe tire pressure by providing a quick, easy visual inspection of each tire, alerting the driver of pressure variations with a bright red LED light, the maker noted.

SKF introduces Splashguard Plug for Scotseal TF Hubcaps

The SKF Splashguard, an advanced protection plug for the line of Scotseal TF Hubcaps, features an exclusion technology with multiple barriers to protect wheel end components from outside contamination. Available in green or black, the splashguards are packaged in groups of four and sealed in 8.5- by 6-in. plastic bags.

Yokohama to issue ‘101ZL SmartSolution Challenge’ at MATS

The tire maker will reveal the full details of its “101ZL SmartSolution Challenge” at the Mid-America Trucking Show, March 31-April 2 in Louisville, Ky. The contest will compare Yokohama’s new premium long-haul steer tire against its competitors in head-to-head competition on the open road. The 101ZL is on the EPA’s SmartWay list of verified low rolling resistance tires.

Next generation waste haul tire from Continental

The new HSU2+ waste haul truck tire features wide tread and shoulder ribs for improved wear, a robust cut- and chip-resistant tread compound and unique tread groove designs to reduce stone retention, and a new “stable” bead construction that offers longer casing lifetimes and better structural durability.

New Kelly tire designed for in-city applications

The new, open-shoulder Kelly KTD features a beefy traction-block tread design with 400 molded-in sipes to enhance traction. The drive tire is designed for exceptional traction in pickup and delivery applications, as well as in specialty applications like school bus and metro operations.

New Dunlop drive tire delivers added traction, miles to removal

The new Dunlop SP 464 long-haul drive tire features a 28/32-inch tread depth in an aggressive tread pattern for optimum traction and mileage. It also has three deep “hydro” grooves for water evacuation, “penetration protectors” to resist cuts and punctures, and solid shoulder ribs to enhance long, even wear.

Continental expands LifeCycle retread solution in the Americas

The tire maker’s new business unit, ContiLifeCycle, will grow in 2011 through the addition of six new tread manufacturing plants. In the U.S., CTA will continue the promotion and sales of ContiTread products through its cooperation with Marangoni Tread North America. The company plans to tackle the markets of Brazil, Colombia and Chile to spread coverage throughout Latin America.

Yokohama adjusts prices on all commercial tires

Prices will increase 8%, on average, for all the company’s light- and medium-duty commercial truck tires in the U.S., effective April 1. Further in-line adjustments will be announced at a later date.
