Kenworth has introduced the 76-in. mid-roof sleeper, which is now available to be ordered with the company’s Kenworth T680 and T880 models. The new sleeper is built to be optimized for liquid bulk tankers, flatbed haulers, or any drivers that prefer a lighter-weight truck that still maintains the comfort of its high-roof counterpart. Compared to Kenworth’s 76-in. high-roof sleeper, the new sleeper offers a 100-lb. weight savings for additional payload capacity and profit opportunity. Depending on conditions of the load, it could save as much as 5% on fuel economy, according to the company.
The 6.5-ft. of headroom included in the mid-roof sleeper should be welcomed by taller drivers; the trucks also include space to hang and store clothing as well as an optional upper bunk, or back wall storage unit. For those really looking for a luxury experience, the trucks even support the inclusion of a high-end sound system or a flat screen TV.
The new mid-roof sleeper joins the 76-in. high-roof sleeper, 52-in. regional sleeper, and day cab in the Kenworth T680 series, while the Kenworth T880 family now includes day cab, 52-in. regional sleeper and 76-in. mid-roof sleeper configurations.
