Peterbilt has added the Model 579 Epiq day cab to its lineup of trucks, the company announced. According to Peterbilt, this builds on the success of the aerodynamic Model 579 Epiq sleeper truck.
“Fleets wanting to operate fuel-efficient day cabs have been an underserved market, and Peterbilt is pleased to provide the new Model 579 Epiq day cab,” said Robert Woodall, Peterbilt’s assistant general manager of sales and marketing. “Its comprehensive, optimized aerodynamic package, fuel-efficient powertrain and other technologies can provide customers up to 14 percent improved fuel economy. It is ideal for fuel-conscious day-cab fleet customers in regional, tanker and bulk haul applications, helping lower operating costs and bringing new levels of productivity, uptime and driver satisfaction.”
Peterbilt’s Model 579 Epiq day cab is available with the PACCAR MX-13 or MX-11 engines in a wide range of horsepower and torque ratings. Fuel efficiency is further enhanced, the company added, when pairing an MX engine with Eaton’s Fuller Advantage automated transmission. Customers can specify the full aerodynamic package that comes standard with the Model 579 Epiq, or a customized version. Other features of Peterbilt’s Model 579 Epiq package include low rolling resistance tires, the SmarTire Tire Pressure Monitoring System and a single horizontal exhaust configuration.
Among the aerodynamic enhancements on the Model 579 Epiq day cab are:
- Multi-piece aerodynamic hood available in both 117- and 123-in. lengths;
- A three-piece collapsible roof fairing;
- Chassis fairings with rubber skirts from the quarter fender to the back of the cab and aerodynamic rubber closeouts under the sides of the cab;
- A three-piece aerodynamic bumper;
- A bumper air dam and bumper-to-hood seals;
- Front wheel closeouts and fender liners; and
- Chassis fairing kickouts.
