At its Athens, Ga. plant, Carrier Transicold recently celebrated a safety milestone by surpassing 5 million hours without a lost-time injury. The company has recorded zero lost-time injuries at the facility since October 2006.
The Athens facility was admitted into the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) at the Star level in 2010. The program recognizes employers and workers who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintained injury and illness rates below U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for their respective industries, while demonstrating employee involvement at all levels of the program.
The Carrier Transicold plant in Athens builds the Vector, X2 and X4 trailer refrigeration units and Supra truck refrigeration units, as well as PowerLINE generator sets for refrigerated shipping containers.
