The newest version of the S2C commercial bus chassis from Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) can be powered by a 300-HP Cummins ISB 6.7 engine rated at 660 lb./ft. of torque. The S2C chassis is designed for cutaway bus bodies. Other features of the chassis include 60- or 100-gal. fuel tanks to reduce fuel stops, a 55-degree wheel cut for improved maneuverability, an easy-tilt hood for engine access, and pin-slide disc brakes for reduced maintenance. Full air disc brakes with 22.5-in. wheels are available as an option.
FCCC has also unveiled a 23,000-lb. X-Ride commercial bus suspension for its XB Series rear-engine, straight rail diesel chassis. X-Ride features a four-point link and four-bag suspension to give commercial bus builders axle control, increased ground clearance and a decrease in system weight.
