GMC, Chevrolet announce bi-fuel work trucks
General Motors’ bi-fuel 2013 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 HD extended cab pickup trucks will be available for order beginning in April. The vehicles’ CNG-capable Vortec 6.0L V8 engine seamlessly transitions between CNG and gasoline fuel systems.
Spartan Motor to assemble Isuzu N-Series gasoline trucks
Production of gasoline-powered Isuzu N-Series trucks will begin April 18 at the Spartan Motors facility in Charlotte, Mich. N-Gas models will be powered by a General Motors Vortec 6.0-liter V8 engine that produces 297 HP at 4,300 rpm and generates 372 ft./lbs. of torque at 4,000 RPM.
Chevrolet, GMC now have single-source LPG option for cutaway vans
General Motors now offers a liquefied petroleum gas option for the 2012 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana cutaway 3500 and 4500 vans. The company uses a one-stop-shop approach that delivers a vehicle with a complete LPG fuel system, which can then be upfitted to meet customer requirements.
CNG and LPG versions of Chevy, GMC vans available for fleets
General Motors now offers fleet customers compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas-powered versions of the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana full-size vans. The vans have specially designed engines for the gaseous fuels and come direct to the customer with the fully integrated and warranted, dedicated fuel system in place, the company said.

General Motors’ Chevrolet Express 2500 cargo vans have 225.1 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, and the extended wheelbase models offer 261.6 cubic feet of space. The Express Cargo 2500 also features standard passenger-side and rear swing-out doors that open wide for easy access. The model’s Hydra-Matic 6L90 6-speed automatic transmission and revised rear axles help improve low-rpm torque, highway fuel economy and overall drivability.
Isuzu to resume production of gas-powered trucks
The new Isuzu gas trucks will feature a six-speed automatic transmission that will be standard on the 2012 model year. All gas N-series models are standard build with the 6.0L V-8 engine with 325 HP and 360 lb.-ft. of torque, according to the company. suzu and General Motors reached an agreement for the supply of the GM gas engine and transmission used for Isuzu’s gas-powered NPR, NPR HD and gas Crew Cab models.
