Peterbilt introduces new Model 348

Peterbilt Motors Co. unveiled the new Model 348 that the company said is designed for Class 7 and Class 8 specialty applications that require durability and a wide range of option content. The new truck offers a GVW beginning at 35,000 lbs. and optional capacity ratings to suit specialty vocations such as construction, petroleum delivery, refuse and utility vocations, Peterbilt said.

An all-aluminum cab is lightweight for fuel efficiency and corrosion resistant for durability. The new lowered and slanted side window beltline increases the view outside the passenger side window, Peterbilt noted.

Peterbilt debuts new Model 337

Peterbilt announced its new Peterbilt Model 337 medium-duty truck suitable for pickup and delivery, beverage and food service vocations.

According to the truck maker, the all-new ergonomically designed driver display package features a gauge package that is easy to read, simple to understand and includes key vehicle performance data located at the top of the dash for optimal viewing. An optional GPS system provides navigation in difficult urban environments. Power windows, mirrors and lock switches are located in the new door pad design, and a new HVAC system is said to improve airflow and reduce maintenance costs.

Thermo King launches V-520 system

Thermo King has introduced the V-520 vehicle-powered temperature control system for small trucks, available now for ordering through its North American dealers.

The system features the new Direct Smart Reefer (DSR) controller, a microprocessor control for direct-drive systems. The system includes SmartPower electric standby to save fuel and cut emissions, and large capacity and airflow, according to Thermo King.

Continental introduces HDR1 tire

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has introduced the HDR1 (Heavy Drive Regional) tire for sales in North America. The tire features an open shoulder design for wet and dry traction, and for long mileage capabilities, the tire offers 28/32nds of tread depth. The tire also maintains a resistance to irregular wear and includes a robust cut- and chip-resistant compound for long, even wear and durability, CTNA added.
